"Alleviation of Poverty and Empowerment of the Poor"

BRAC, which was established after the Bangladesh War of Liberation, decided to assist post war Afghanistan in its rehabilitation and development efforts with a view, 'A just enlightened, health and democratic Afghanistan free from hanger, Poverty, environmental degradation and all form of exploitation based on age, sex, religion and ethnicity'. BRAC Afghanistan started functioning from June 2002 after its registration in Kabul on May 02, 2002. With the total 3,438 staff members implementing its Agriculture & Livestock Development Credit Support Program, National Solidarity Program, Employment and Income Generating Activities, Health, Education and Capacity Development Programs, in 24 Provinces (Kabul, Namarari, Parwan, Balkh, Paktika, Helmond, Kapisa, Bamiyan Baglan, Badgish, Samangan, Jawzjan, Saripul, Panjshir, Logar, Ghazni, Herat , Takhar, Kunduz, Laghman, Nimroz, Badakhshan, Faryab and Kandahar).
