BRAC Training and Resource Centre (BTRC)
Recognizing the capacity development as strategic intervention for development practitioners, in June 2003, BRAC Afghanistan established a training centre with 50 residential facilities in Kabul city and it has extended its residential capacity to 150 in 2005. Training is an integral part of capacity development; keeping this in mind from the inception of training center, BTRC initiated a number of training programs and according to it ultimate positive effect BRAC established its another 25 seated residential second Training center at Mazar-e- Sharif in 2004. The specific objectives of the training are as follows:
- To develop and provide training courses for Development Practitioners and program participants of BRAC Afghanistan;
- To develop the capacity of Government Organizations and other NGOs by providing needs-based professional training;
- To extend right support and facilities to other organizations for organizing training, seminars and workshops etc.
There are four faculties, namely Development Management, Finance and Accounts, Education and Gender and Health and Development. A total number of 45 resource persons are working in both BTRCs and of them 29 are from Afghan nationals and another 16 from Bangladesh . In gender ratio total 06 female faculty members are working of them 04 from Afghan Nationals and 02 from Bangladesh . Under these four faculties more than 60 courses are conducted during January to October and have trained 3,861 development staffs and of them, 55% are females. Of the total number of participants 2,462 are BRAC Afghanistan and 1,399 are from different NGOs like national, international, women headed and different government ministries. BRAC Afghanistan's training courses are of the highest quality. They integrate concept and practice, ensure a participatory approach to learning, and adapt new training technologies based on needs and culture of Afghanistan . BRAC-Afghanistan has full of resources in educational materials, capacity in developing materials from English to Dari and Pashtu and vis-versa. It has modern training equipments for delivering training by using participatory methodologies. There are seventy training curriculums and eighteen non training interventions have been developed during this period based on the findings of Training Needs Assessment (TNA) and on demand. The centre conducts both residential and field based trainings when and where require.

BTRC offers a variety of training courses in different areas of development. The training courses are arranged for the grassroots level workers, supervisors, senior and mid-level managers of development organizations and government ministries and of them Development Management, Effective Office Management, Project Proposal Writing, Report writing, Effective Communication Skills, Gender Awareness and Advocacy courses are mostly wanted. Not only respective venues sometime BTRC Trainers conducted some highly affected courses by marketing to other International NGOs and their venues. These courses are conducted by professional facilitators who have gained considerable experiences in the art and technology of training in Bangladesh and around the world. The training staffs are experienced in various fields of development, and there has been the presence of experts from Bangladesh during some courses. 
BTRC Kabul has maintained very good relationship with the different ministries of Islamic States of Afghanistan especially Ministry of Finance (MoF), Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), Ministry of Education (MoE) and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Youth and Women Affairs. BTRC Afghanistan has not only initiated a number of training in staff level, it also performs some training and workshop in executive level. Policy Advocacy is such type of course that gives much benefit to executive and policy makers. BTRC of BRAC Afghanistan was actively involved in preparing the three years strategic plan for MRRD. In spite of some challenges like cultural diversity, competitive training market, BRAC would like to set up two more training centers one in Heart, another in Kandahar to enhance the capacity for thousands of development practitioners across the country.
