BRAC Microfinance Afghanistan :

BRAC Afghanistan has been implementing its Income Generating programs in Afghanistan since May 2002, assisted by Micro-finance Investment Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA) Ltd with an objective to make credit available to the poor especially women, at a reasonable rate, involve the poor in income generating activities and extend financial services with providing technical knowledge to existing small businesses, farmers, rural women. Presently, there are three different contracts for fund disbursement with an amount of USD 72,495,565 with MISFA Ltd for Grant and Loan fund. The program has four components such as:



Core Microfinance Program for rural poor women :
Microfinance (MF) Program in Afghanistan has started to work with a view to create a self-sustaining and reliable financial service program for the poor, especially women. MF Program launched with a goal to extend financial and non-financial services to support poverty alleviation in under developed areas of Afghanistan . The Program covers in total 23 out of 34 outlined provinces with total of 210 Branch offices.

 



Small Enterprise Project (SEP):

Small Enterprise Project (SEP) was initiated to provide loans to small enterprises with growth potential. BRAC initiated this project with the aim to develop and expand existing businesses as well as to create new businesses for income generation and employment creation.

Agriculture & Livestock Development and Credit Support Program (ALDCSP):
ALDCSP program aiming at improving households' social and economic condition through the provision of loans complemented with training and technical support to the agriculture and livestock borrowers.

Alternative Livelihood Rural Finance Program (ALRFP):
BRAC Afghanistan is implementing Alternative Livelihood Rural Finance Program (ALRFP) in the provinces where opium cultivation poses a serious problem. In this program BRAC will provide credit to those who are only involve in poppy cultivation.
